Puukoti Group Oy, a company based in Järvenpää, Finland, describes itself as a pioneer of Finnish ecological urban housing and industrial timber construction. The company's main business is the production of owner-occupied housing for the Helsinki metropolitan area and its surrounding areas. The company was founded in 2000 and has been operating in Järvenpää since 2013. Puukoti has built more than 1,000 apartments in Uusimaa, including 127 apartments in Järvenpää, including Nuotti.
Few people know that the majority of Puukoti's wooden homes are manufactured in a factory in Järvenpää's Nummenkylä, which is heated by geothermal energy. The factory was expanded in 2017 and 2019.

Climate issues drive home buying
Wooden House Sales Manager Marika Nurminen says that the company wants to enable the construction of new high-quality apartment buildings in Järvenpää along functional locations.
The vast majority of the future residents of Nuot will be from Lake Constance, currently living in the city or returning to the city.
- Many people are currently looking for a smaller home, which will allow for lower housing costs. In addition, the ease of new construction is attractive, as there is no need to worry about future renovations and their costs for decades.
Nurminen also says that new residents have also made their choice of housing for climate reasons.
- People are becoming increasingly aware of energy issues, including heating solutions and their carbon footprint. It is also important for the Wooden House to be a pioneer in ecological wood construction. We want to play our part in preserving biodiversity by committing to sustainable development goals," Nurminen says.
- In addition, we use only Finnish wood in our buildings. Wooden dwellings act as a carbon sink for nature throughout their life cycle. In the future, we intend to make even more ecological choices.
As a result of the carbon footprint calculation, Wooden Home will in future require its material suppliers to provide information on the emissions of building materials and, if necessary, change them to even more ecological ones.
- We are also committed to planting a new tree for every home we sell.
Future housing in Järvenpää is already tentatively planned, but the timetable is still open. The projects are also dependent on zoning decisions made by the city.
In terms of turnover, Woodhouse has grown in recent years. However, the challenging market environment in the construction sector dictates that significant growth is impossible to achieve at the moment.
- It is therefore important to take steps to maintain our competitiveness and ensure our future performance. It is important to stabilise our business and improve our competitive position so that we can grow in the future.
