Motonet, a department store chain that has been growing strongly for twenty years, is building a new department store in Järvenpää. The store, which will open in 2022, will be Motonet's fortieth department store in Finland.

- The design work for the new department store is already well underway and a contractor has been chosen. We will submit the application for a building permit as soon as possible. If everything goes according to plan, the new Motonet will be open in early summer 2022," says Toni Stigzelius, CEO of Motonet.

Motonet buys a department store plot from the City of Järvenpää. The City Council approved the land deal on 23 August 2021 and the transaction will be completed in September. The plot is located in the Boogie business park at Diggarinkatu 8.

- We are delighted that the land deal has been confirmed. The location is excellent, as a diverse service centre is being built around Diggarinkatu. We see Järvenpää as a strong growth area that is developing in the wake of the Helsinki metropolitan area," says Stigzelius.

Already the tenth department store in Uusimaa

Motonet already has two department stores in Helsinki and two in Espoo, as well as department stores in Vantaa, Kerava, Lohja, Porvoo and Hyvinkää. In 2022, Motonet in Hyvinkää will also be replaced by a new department store in the Veikkari area.

A medium-sized department store will be built in Järvenpää, which will be the tenth Motonet in Uusimaa. The product range, which focuses on gardening, hunting, camping, fishing and motoring, among other things, has been expanded this year to include pet products.

Increasing supply of services

Motonet has also invested heavily in increasing its services. For example, the department stores have self-service car wash and vacuuming points, Motonet service points for minor car maintenance and Motonet workshops for major repairs, as well as a tyre hotel.

Motonet, part of the Broman Group, is a Finnish family business that has been expanding its network or renovating its branches at a steady pace. In 2021, four new department stores will be opened. When Järvenpää opens, Motonet will have 40 stores in Finland. In addition, there will be one in Tallinn.

Motonet's turnover for the financial year ending in October 2020 was approximately EUR 390 million and the company employs around 1,700 people.
