How have you or your community worked together for the environment? Do you know of another organisation that deserves an award for their efforts? Nominate the winner of the 2024 Environment Prize!

Now in its ninth year, the award aims to highlight environmental achievements in Central Uusimaa and to encourage exemplary and commendable environmental action. This year, the theme of the competition is ' voluntary and community work'.

Have you worked together to help the environment, for example through various nature or water management activities, restoration work or invasive species control? Or organised events or activities to help protect the environment, such as excursions or information events? The activities can be anything that is done in a voluntary spirit, e.g. to promote environmental protection or environmental education.

You can nominate either your own activities or someone else you know. The winner will be awarded €1000. The general criteria for awarding the prize are:

  1. The recipient of the Environmental Award must be a company, association, community or individual operating in Järvenpää, Kerava, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi or Tuusula.
  2. The award is in recognition of activities that contribute to environmental protection
  3. The beneficiary is an example to others in the sector

Entries must be submitted by 25.2.2024 by e-mail to [email protected] or by post to Keski-Uusimaa Environment Centre, P.O. Box 60, 04301 Tuusula. Please mention "Environmental Award 2024" in the title field/envelope of the e-mail. The entry must describe:

  • Proposed recipient of the award
  • What kind of voluntary and community work has the applicant done for the environment?
  • When did it start and is it still going on?
  • Contact details of the applicant
  • Contact details of the candidate (if different from the applicant)

The decision on the winner will be made by the Keski-Uusimaa Environment Board.
