The Gasum gas filling station located in the Boogie business park in Järvenpää has been serving motorists for more than a year. The increasing use of environmentally friendly fuels has contributed to the environmental goals of both the city of Järvenpää and the entrepreneurs in the area.
Järvenpää's first gas filling station has been operating at the Boogie premises at Diggarinkatu 8 A for more than a year. According to Olli Paasio, Country Manager of Gasum's Finnish Transport Division, customers have found the new station in Järvenpää very well during the year and the reception has been very positive.
- The station's location in Boogie's growing business district is ideal for serving both the growing number of local gas truck drivers and the high volume of passing traffic. The station is also popular with heavier transport operators.
- In addition, the station will also contribute to the City of Järvenpää's own emission reduction targets by creating the opportunity for cleaner urban transport.
Susanna Aramo, Business Services Manager for the City of Järvenpää, knows of local businesses that have switched their own fleet to gas cars thanks to the Gasum gas filling station in Järvenpää. This is a good example of environmental responsibility for other businesses or private car drivers in Järvenpää.
Biogas as a means
Society's emissions need to be reduced to mitigate climate change, and reducing emissions from transport is an essential part of this.
- Biogas is widely recognised as an excellent way to reduce emissions from transport. We produce biogas in Finland and Sweden and source it from our Nordic and European partners. It is an important part of the green transition and on the way to rapidly reducing emissions in society. At the same time, biogas enables significant emission reductions quickly and is an excellent example of a functioning circular economy," Paasio says.
Gasum is also currently building a second station in Bastukäri, Sipoo.
- We believe that the new Sipoo station, together with the Järvenpää station, will create very good conditions for an even wider regional demand for biogas.
The war in Ukraine has contributed to the impact on energy markets, in particular through higher costs.
- Despite these difficult times, gas has remained competitive with other alternatives and gas distribution at all Gasum stations has operated normally.
