Marko Lehenberg, Chief Executive Officer, moved to the private sector from 1 November 2022 to work for another employer. Lehenberg was employed by the City of Järvenpää for four years.

As Director of Vitality, Lehenberg has had an inspiring and evolving approach to leading his vitality team, influencing the key themes of the city's economy and businesses, preparing the city's new strategy and new business and economic programme, and contributing to the city's growth and development.

We thank Marko for the past eventful years and wish him all the best for the future! At the same time, we will miss his professional and solid vision and knowledge.

Reflections on the orientations of the new Enterprise and Business Programme

This year has been dramatic in many ways and just as the tide was beginning to ease a little, we had the aftermath of a war in our own neighbourhood. At the same time, the supply chains of many companies were severely disrupted, commodity prices skyrocketed and, heading into the autumn, there is still an acute energy crisis on the horizon.

The city's new business and economic programme, to be published in December 2022, could not have been built in a much more challenging environment.

But where there is entrepreneurial spirit, there is also perseverance and tenacity to continue on the chosen path, believing in growth and success. For its new business programme, the City of Järvenpää interviewed more than 50 local businesses about their challenges and expectations, success factors and development ideas. On the whole, their confidence in the future is not shaken and it can be said that, given the circumstances, many companies are doing even better than ever before. Growth is also still on the horizon.

However, the growth outlook has brought new challenges, such as labour shortages and in particular the availability of skilled labour. It is also becoming increasingly clear that this challenge can no longer be solved by national efforts, but must increasingly look abroad. This also means creating new approaches and, above all, challenging old ones.

The new Enterprise and Economy Programme seeks a far-reaching strategic direction that will contribute to the city's vision of a "metropolitan north centre". A particular focus will be on identifying growth-oriented businesses and encouraging them to grow, without forgetting other businesses. Internationalisation will also play an important role, as will services to improve access to skilled labour.

While managed and sustainable growth is a vital part of our city's vitality, early help and grassroots networks are equally important. That's why the city will continue to invest in free business advisory services, which Keuke Ltd will continue to provide with its usual professionalism.

Thanks again to all the entrepreneurs for 2022 and the journey together!
