Parking situation in the city centre

The city has prepared a draft map of parking in Järvenpää city centre, which shows the current situation of public parking spaces (on-street parking and parking areas) in the city centre in May 2023. The map also shows the time limits for parking spaces.

The City of Järvenpää has no paid parking spaces, but in several places parking is limited in time, so you must use a parking disc when parking. Parking in private areas may also be subject to a charge.

Infrastructure construction in the city centre
  • The civil engineering work is progressing on the Janne promenade, with the aim of having the end of the promenade facing Mannilantie ready for use by mid-May 2023.
  • YIT, the builder of the Boulevard Quarter, will keep a fenced-off construction area of about 5 metres from the pedestrian street on the side of the Boulevard Quarter, even though the street surfaces are expected to be completed as early as June 2023. The full width of the promenade will be open to public use closer to the completion of the Balanssi high-rise building under construction in early autumn 2023.
  • On Ahomaanrai, further repairs to the street structures and the construction of ramps in front of the property's doors will be carried out between May and June 2023.
  • Street markings, landscaping and other finishing works on Helsingintie and Mannilantie will be carried out between May and June 2023.
  • The construction of the Little Kalle Park on Helsingintie and the adjacent stone works on the Office Building side are currently underway and are expected to be completed by the end of June 2023.
  • The trenches on the pedestrian street at Ahomaanrait and Tupalankulma are for the connection of the electricity cables of the electricity network operator Caruna. The connection is awaiting the completion of the new property transformer station, which is scheduled for completion at the end of May 2023 (week 21). The excavations are expected to be completed by Caruna's contractor by early June 2023 at the latest.
  • The construction of the cycle lanes and the renovation of the street surfaces between Kotilinnantie and Urheilukatu on Mannilantie is scheduled to start in July 2023. Completion of the renovation is scheduled for November 2023.
Building projects in the city centre

Boulevard Quarter

  • Perhelä, or the Boulevard Quarter, is a key project in the development of Järvenpää city centre, which aims to renew and revitalise the city centre and bring pedestrian services to a new level. The Bulevardikorttel will be a hybrid district combining high-quality housing, services and jobs.
  • Phase I: to be completed in late 2022. Includes an office building, a parking garage and the Basso residential building (104 apartments in total).
  • Phase II: to be completed in September 2023. Includes a business centre and the Balans residential building (72 apartments in total).
  • Yard cover: the first part will be completed during 2023. The remaining part will be completed in Phase III.
  • Phase III: construction is expected to start in 2024, including the commercial premises on the corner of Keksi and Mannilantien, and the Briljant residential building (124 apartments in total).

The card of the Co-operative Bank

  • The Osuuspankki block project continues the development of Järvenpää city centre and follows the construction schedule of the Boulevard block. The OP Quarter will become a hybrid quarter combining quality housing and services. The vibrant stone base of the quarter will complement the services offered in the city centre and enliven the pedestrian street Janne. The property is owned by Uudenmaan Osuuspankki and the project is being implemented by YIT.
  • The project will improve cycling and walking links between the Venny Soldan track and the Ahomani track as a cross-city link.
  • Planning is progressing and the draft plan will be published in May-June(Existing plans page).
  • A demolition permit has been applied for. Demolition of the existing property is expected to start in 2025.
  • Construction is expected to start in 2026 on the Sibeliuksenkatu side, after which construction will move to the Mannilantie side.
  • The construction will only affect the parking of the Co-operative Bank once the construction itself has started.

Office building

  • The Mannilantie office building and the police station building form a central part of the city centre development project. The project includes a major renovation of the existing office building and the construction of a new building to replace the existing, partly disused, police station. In addition, an under-used parking lot will be added to the planning area, where housing will be built.
  • Both properties are owned by the Senate, which has the main responsibility for taking the project forward.
  • The draft plan has been open for public consultation since early 2024. The draft plan will be worked on in autumn 2023 and construction will start in 2024-2025.
  • Public services and housing will be built in the Office Building block.
  • The façade of the existing office building will be protected.
