Harri Palviainen, who has been the City of Järvenpää's Director of Urban Development since December 2021, has resigned from his position. He will take up the position of Managing Director of Helsingin Asumisoikeus Oy at the beginning of May.

"It has been rewarding to lead Järvenpää forward together on the path of growth and development, guided by our new strategy. I believe that despite the economic challenges, the trend will continue to be positive. Järvenpää is well placed to continue to thrive in the future as a vibrant northern centre of the metropolitan area by working together," says Palviainen.

"I would like to thank our extensive network of partners, the excellence of the city organisation, my colleagues and the political leaders who have supported us in promoting our city strategy. A special thank you to the businesses and communities in Järvenpää, whose activities keep the city vibrant. It's been fast-paced and fun working together - I hope to see you again in the future!"

Mikko Autere, Director of Urban Engineering, will continue as Acting Director of Urban Development, who has been acting in this position for the first part of the year while Palviainen was on sabbatical.

The recruitment of a new Director of Urban Development is expected to start by autumn at the latest. The City Development Director is a service area director, elected by Järvenpää City Council.
